GigaDevice Product Lifecycle Policy

Introduction

GigaDevice is committed to responsible and sustainable business practices and to reducing the environmental impact of its products throughout their lifecycle. In response to global circular economy initiatives and customer sustainability expectations, this policy is established to promote the green transformation of the semiconductor industry. By optimizing product design, supply chain collaboration, and recycling systems, the Company aims to reduce the environmental footprint across the product lifecycle, with particular focus on end-of-life management.

This product life cycle policy refers to a series of management measures formulated by the enterprise for the entire life cycle of the product, from research and design, production and manufacturing, market circulation, usage and consumption, to disposal, recycling and reuse. The core of this policy is to systematically control the environmental impact, resource utilization, quality safety and responsibility attribution throughout the product's entire process.

Scope

This policy applies to GigaDevice Semiconductor Inc. and all of its wholly-owned/majority-owned subsidiaries, covering all employees, management, contractors, and business partners (including suppliers, customers, and recycling service providers).

Commitments and Objectives

GigaDevice strengthens product lifecycle management through the following initiatives

Product Design Optimization

Continuously develop energy-efficient products and products for eco-friendly equipment and facilities, extending product lifespan and reducing energy consumption;

Continuously optimize tray design to reduce plastic usage while maintaining strength and flatness;

Refine the layer structure of aluminum foil bags to reduce plastic pollution;

Supply Chain Collaboration

Collaborate with suppliers to develop halogen-free packaging materia;

Require suppliers to provide Material Composition Sheets (MCS) for hazardous substance tracking;

Establish specific requirements for Design for Environment (DFE) in the New Packaging Product Introduction Checklist;

Encourage suppliers to adopt energy-efficient equipment and technologies to reduce energy consumption and product carbon footprint.

Recycling and Circular Utilization

Streamline the Laboratory Waste and Fixed Assets Recycling Process to recover and reuse lab waste (such as chips and PCBs) and retired fixed assets.

Entrust a third-party service provider to process electronic waste through shredding and recycling, primarily to recover reusable metals.

Require suppliers to document retention periods and disposal frequency for defective chips and waste wafer blue tapes, ensure delivery to certified disposal facilities, and provide disposal records.

Packaging Innovation

Utilize 100% recyclable corrugated cartons for outer packaging;

Ensure all outer cartons are tested by third-party laboratories for substances including Cd, Pb, Hg, and Cr6+, reduce negative impacts on human health and environmental safety;

Implement the requirement for the secondary pressing of packaging carrier belts, effectively improving the reuse rate on the customer side;

Promote the adoption of biodegradable anti-static bags that comply with ASTM D6400 standards to further reduce pollution.

GigaDevice commits to the following product lifecycle objectives

Material Recovery and Disposal Rate

Achieve a recovery and disposal rate of 90% or higher for packaging rmaterials from defective chip.

Hazardous Substance Control

Ensure 100% product compliance with RoHS 2.0 substance limits

Recycler Partnerships

Establish partnerships with at least five qualified recycling vendors

GigaDevice prioritizes the development of products that support energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. As a fabless designer of integrated circuits, we continuously advance green supply chain practices and contribute to society through product lifecycle assessments and circular economy initiatives. Guided by a long-lasting development vision, GigaDevice remains focused on building a sustainable future.

The Board’s Strategy and Sustainability Committee oversees this policy and reviews its effectiveness on a regular basis. The ESG Working Group is responsible for implementation, revision, and ongoing updates.
