SPI NOR flash memory is a type of non-volatile storage that uses the synchronous Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) protocol for communication. SPI NOR has been a popular choice by embedded systems designers due to its low pin count, small footprint, and low cost.

When the ultra-fast Execute-In-Place (XIP) for direct SPI NOR memory access were introduced, SPI NOR evolved as a true memory solution replacing parallel NOR. The data throughput offered by the Standard SPI, Dual SPI, Quad SPI and Octal SPI interface protocol reflects those transfer rates from slowest to fastest.

Through years of product development starting with 1.8V and 3V voltage series, three new voltage series are added, namely 1.65V~3.6V wide voltage range, 1.2V, and 1.8V with 1.2V VIO.  The density support for each voltage series is as follows: 1.8V/3V support 512Kb to 2Gb, 1.65V~3.6V supports 512Kb to 256Mb, 1.2V supports 8Mb to 256Mb, and 1.8V with 1.2V VIO supports 32Mb to 2Gb. Within voltage series, customized new innovations and feature sets are developed depending on customer needs such as low power to ultra-low power, fast program/erase, high performance read, higher reliability, higher temperature support of up to 125C, and smaller packages.
